Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician - Hasbro Children's/Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, RI

The Department of Pediatrics at Hasbro Children's/Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, Rhode Island is seeking a full-time BE/BC Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician (DBP) or Neurodevelopmentalist (NDD) to join the Division of DBP. Responsibilities include teaching fellows, residents and medical students in Outpatient, Ward and Nursery settings. Busy multidisciplinary programs in Developmental Assessment, Autism, Learning, Attention and Behavior, and Down Syndrome are components of this clinical service. It is expected that approximately three quarters of the incumbent's time will be devoted to clinical care and supervision and the remainder to scholarly pursuits. Opportunities for collaboration with faculty in Child and Family Psychiatry, Child Protection, Neonatal Follow-up, Neurology, Genetics and Metabolism, the Brown Center for the Study of Children and Families at Risk and the DBPNet Research Network are abundant. Demonstrated capability and proven excellence in clinical care and teaching are required. Research experience would be valued. Faculty appointment at Brown Medical School and eligibility for licensure in Rhode Island would be expected.

This faculty member shall participate in providing optimal family centered and culturally competent patient care for children presenting to the Developmental-Behavioral Pediatric (DBP) Division and in teaching fellows, residents and medical students in the Department of Pediatrics of the W Alpert Medical School of Brown Medical University. The incumbent shall maintain and develop an area of scholarly activities and/or research expertise appropriate to his/her prior training and interests. It is expected that approximately three quarters of the incumbent's time will be devoted to clinical care and supervision and the remainder to scholarly/advocacy pursuits. The incumbent will participate in Departmental, Hospital and/or University matters appropriate for rank.

Specific:

1. Provide well-informed, evidenced based, compassionate, family centered care for children on the
    busy Developmental-Behavioral Pediatric service at Hasbro Children's/Rhode Island Hospital in
    outpatient, ward and nursery settings.

2. Share basic outpatient teaching responsibilities with other members of the Division of DBP at the
    Hasbro Children's Hospital of Rhode Island Hospital.

3. Participate in supervision of fellows, residents and medical students in the care of patients in the
    Division of DBP of the Hasbro Children's/ Rhode Island Hospital.

4. Participate in curriculum development, advising, and teaching of Brown University medical
    students and those from other programs in all aspects of pediatric experience.

5. Share responsibility for the required pediatric resident rotation: "Developmental-Behavioral
    Pediatrics" for Residents at Hasbro Children's/Rhode Island Hospital.

6. Initiate and carry out a plan of research/scholarly/advocacy activities in Developmental-Behavioral
    Pediatrics or a related area in concert with other staff members which could include applying for
    funds, and writing for peer-reviewed publications.

7. Maintain positive working relationships by:
          •    attending and participating in Faculty and Staff meetings;
          •    serving on University, Hospital, and Department committees;
          •    assisting as much as possible as fellow faculty pursue assigned leadership roles;
          •    working closely with the Chief of the Division of DBP and the Chairman of Pediatrics of the
               W Alpert Medical School of Brown University to facilitate the achievement of the Division
               and Department's mission.

8. Prepare a written yearly self-assessment for review with the Chief of the Division of DBP and for
    submission for review by the Academic Review and Promotions Committee, Department of
    Pediatrics.

9. Applicants must possess a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Rhode
    Island (or must be licensed in another jurisdiction and be eligible for licensure in Rhode Island).
    They must possess a Doctor of Medicine; be Board-certified in Pediatrics; Board-certified or
    Board-eligible in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics or in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities and
    be qualified for an appointment Brown Medical School in the Clinician Educator series.
