AUCD is seeking an energetic and motivated individual to join our Silver Spring, MD office team! AUCD works to advance policy and practice to improve the health, education, social and economic well-being of all people with disabilities and their families. We support over 100 university and hospital-based member centers across the United States.

We are currently accepting applications for a Program Assistant. This key member of our team will enhance the operations of AUCD Central Office teams and the AUCD Network by supporting training activities, communications, information dissemination and other online services, office and administrative support, and the annual AUCD Conference. By working across departments within the office, the Program Assistant will further the mission and goals of all members of the AUCD network as well as gain a range of experience and career development at a national disability organization. This is a full-time, in-office position located in downtown Silver Spring, MD, one block from the red line Silver Spring Metro station.

Required Competencies

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize, track projects and multi-task to meet deadlines of the office.
  • High level of interpersonal skills including excellent listening, oral and written communication skills, tact, patience, flexibility and courtesy.
  • Sensitivity to and professionalism with all constituents of AUCD, including individuals with disabilities and their families, individuals from diverse cultures, researchers, clinicians, students, and federal agencies.
  • Demonstrated excellence in using the Microsoft Office suite.

Desired Competencies

  • Demonstrated proficiency in use of a range of technologies in support of program work and information exchange including internet-based communication tools, HTML and Content Management System experience, and training tools such as webinar technology.

Responsibilities
Program Support

  • Coordinate the scheduling, running and archiving of webinars for all departments in support of AUCD's technical assistance and training activities.
  • Assist staff with communication messaging and tracking tasks via web postings, email and listserv announcements, webinar announcements, social media sites, press releases, online newsletters, electronic publications, and other online communication and collaboration tools.
  • Manage AUCD publication tracking, orders, and organization.
  • Manage and track AUCD's product inventory for both in-office use and the online AUCD Marketplace.
  • Assist departments in member directory tracking and updates for all AUCD networks.
  • Work with AUCD staff to further review processes and streamline in support of greater office efficiency.

Administrative and Conference Support

  • Provide administrative support to departments including check requests, materials and other preparation for grantee meetings, and other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Serve as back up in administrative specialist's absence for phones, mail, and other operations support as needed.
  • Annual conference support including but not limited to populating and maintaining the conference app, conference materials development, online conference marketing and website updates, and other conference activities as assigned.
  • Provide support to AUCD staff in oversight of the organization's Councils and Special Interest Groups as well as Board of Directors.
  • Ad-hoc projects as identified.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or a commensurate level of work experience including demonstrated, relevant professional experience, preferably in the nonprofit/social services sectors.
  • Experience with computer and web-based skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to support a number of complex and simultaneous activities.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
