Marketplace Enrollment as a Share of the Potential Marketplace Population

Data in this table represent cumulative Marketplace enrollment through January 16, 2015 for states using the healthcare.gov platform to perform eligibility determinations and enroll consumers into coverage for 2015 (states using the Federally-facilitated Marketplace and states with a Partnership or Federally-supported State-based Marketplace). Data for State-based Marketplaces are through January 17, 2015, with the exception of California, which is reporting data through January 18, 2015.

State Decisions on Health Insurance Marketplace and the Medicaid Expansion

At this time there are 14 State-based Marketplaces; 3 Federally-supported Marketplaces; 7 State-partnership Marketplaces; 27 Federally-facilitated Marketplaces. So far 29 states (including the District of Columbia) have adopted the Medicaid Expansion, 7 states are discussing adopting Medicaid Expansion and 15 states are not adopting at this time.

Social Security Advisory Board (SSAB) Announces Final Report of the 2014 Disability Policy Panel

The Social Security Advisory Board has published the 2014 Disability Policy Panel's report on continuing disability reviews (CDR)- the process used by SSA to evaluate the continuing eligibility of disability beneficiaries.

David Mank (IN UCEDD) Elected to Lead the National Advisory Committee on Increasing Competitive Integrated Employment for Individuals with Disabilities

David Mank, director of Indiana University's Indiana Institute on Disability and Community, has been appointed by U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez to serve on, and elected by the membership to lead, a new Advisory Committee on Increasing Competitive Integrated Employment for Individuals with Disabilities, a key provision of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.

National Center for Learning Disabilities-- Assessment & Accountability: Students with Disabilities & The AA-AAS

NCLD believe in for high standards for all students with disabilities. The overwhelming majority of students with disabilities can take the general assessment with accommodations. Therefore, administration of the alternate assessment based on alternate academic achievement standards (AA-AAS) needs to be appropriately limited to students with the most significant cognitive disabilities in order to prevent misuse and overuse.

Nisonger Center, UCEDD, hosts regional Williams Syndrome Weekend

The Nisonger Center Williams Syndrome Program hosted a Williams Syndrome Weekend on November 8-9 in Columbus, Ohio, attracting families from Ohio and adjoining states. The purpose of Williams Syndrome event is to bring families together to socialize and learn from each other. Close to 100 people gathered at Nisonger Center at the Ohio State University, where children participated in arts & crafts, music, games, and potluck dinner and adults visited and talked with OSU clinical and research staff.

The Chicagoland Entrepreneurship Education for People with Disabilities (CEED) Project

Sarah Parker Harris of the Illinois UCEDD at the University of Illinois at Chicago and her team recently received a grant award for The Chicagoland Entrepreneurship Education for People with Disabilities (CEED) project from the Coleman Foundation! The CEED project will bridge entrepreneurship with disability by developing and providing a comprehensive entrepreneurship education and training program for people with disabilities and service providers working in Disability Community Agencies and Small Business Development Centers in Illinois.

Minnesota Act Early Team Actively Targets Culturally Diverse Communities

The Minnesota Act Early team has actively targeted these disparities in their community through outreach to culturally diverse communities. One of the primary goals has been to build both awareness and capacity within local diverse communities. The project reaches out to diverse communities to educate about screening and build expertise within communities around healthy development, the importance of regular developmental screening, early warning signs of ASD/NDDs, and early intervention.

Vanderbilt Kennedy Center Celebrates 50 Years in 2015

This year, the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center celebrates 50 years of transforming the lives of people with disabilities through discovery, service and training. The yearlong celebration will commence with a lecture by Andrew Imparato, Executive Director of AUCD, on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 4 p.m. Where he will deliver the Kennedy Center's Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Lecture titled 'The Future of Disability Policy."
