As prenatal screening for Down syndrome becomes more advanced, soon-to-be parents are faced with increasingly difficult decisions.

In Europe, such testing has led to fewer births of children with Down syndrome, as parents choose to terminate pregnancies. However, many parents in the U.S. are having children despite knowing that their babies will more than likely experience a disability. In fact, the number of babies born with Down syndrome in the U.S. has increased.
