Katie Keiling awarded 2008 Anne Rudigier Award

Katie Keiling of the Institute on Disability and Human Development, University of Illinois at Chicago received the 2008 Anne Rudigier Award at the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) Annual Meeting and Conference.

Katie Keiling of the Institute on Disability and Human Development, University of Illinois at Chicago received the 2008 Anne Rudigier Award at the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) Annual Meeting and Conference.

The award is presented by the Rudigier Family to commemorate the accomplishments and commitment of their daughter Anne, this award recognizes an outstanding student demonstrating a commitment to supporting people with developmental disabilities and their families.

Wrote her nominator, "Katie is no ordinary student. While taking classes, studying, and doing research can certainly be a full time job, Katie doesn't stop there. She also works full time for the UCEDD as a community support coordinator, and has served on the boards of The Arc of Illinois, The Illinois chapter of AAIDD, Access Living (an independent living center), and L'Arche. To date, Katie has trained thousands of policymakers, direct service professionals, families and self advocates around the state."
