Supports and Barriers for People with Disabilities in the Nursing Profession: Web Survey.  The National Organization of Nurses with Disabilities (NOND) is conducting a web survey for nursing students with disabilities, nurses with disabilities, and nurse educators/administrators.  This web survey is a research study focusing on the identification and exploration of professional issues that support or impede nursing education and nursing career opportunities for individuals with disabilities.  NOND and the Institute/Department on Disability and Human Development (IL UCEDD) are collaborative partners conducting the research.

Evaluation of MCH Leadership Competencies, Comments due by June 30, 2006.  This evaluation survey is intended for grantees receiving funding through the Maternal & Child Health Bureau.  The evaluation process can be completed through the Leadership Competencies Webpage.  This site contains the latest version of the MCH Leadership Competencies, background documents, and a forum for you to post your comments.

Field Trials of Diagnostic Manual - Intellectual Disabilities (DM-ID).  The National Association for the Dually Diagnosed (NADD) in association with the American Psychiatric Association (APA) is publishing a diagnostic book providing adaptations of DSM-IV-TR criteria for individuals with ID.  These Manuals provide information on how to apply DSM-IV-TR criteria to this population. Field trials are planned for June and July, 2006 and will be testing the usability and applicability of the abridged Manual in assessing psychiatric disorders in persons with ID.  We are looking for clinicians, universities, large organizations to participate. We are asking that participants diagnose a minimum of 20 persons using the Manual.  For further information or to indicate interest in participating, please email Ed Seliger, Project Assistant.

American Red Cross Wants Your Input on Emergency Preparedness.  The American Red Cross, working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is developing educational materials on terrorism and emergency preparedness, covering five major topics and is looking for focus group participants.  During part of the discussion you will interact with the moderator and other focus group participants by phone and by internet so you will need to be able to connect to the internet and make a phone call at the same time.  The focus group will last approximately 1.5 hours.  If you are 18 years of age or older and have a severe hearing impairment or are a caretaker of an adult with a severe cognitive impairment, you are eligible to participate in focus groups scheduled on June 27 and July 6; or if you possess a severe vision impairment or a severe mobility impairment, you are eligible to participate in focus groups scheduled on June 26 and June 29, 2006.   Please contact Deb Allen at 1-877-539-9696 (Toll Free) no later than Wednesday, June 21, 2006 to express your interest in the focus groups.  For those with hearing impairment, contact your State Relay Service.
