A Special Note from the Editor:

As part of my "swan song" with regards of developing and editing my last issue of the AUCDigest to the AUCD Network, I am taking the liberty to thank all the centers, programs, UCEDD and LEND Program Directors, disseminating and marketing directors, communications managers, and the individuals who took the time to submit content and materials to me each month over the past five years to be included in the monthly newsletter. As a result, the AUCDigest has become a credible, well-respected electronic newsletter for all to read. For this achievement, I thank you.

During the countless exchange of emails and information, I have been able to foster several friendships throughout the AUCD Network. I will truly miss those interactions, my friends. This issue, like all others previously, was developed and accompanied in the presence of music. I love listening to music - and it doesn't matter what genre or category the music is coming from, as long as it places me in a pleasant mood while I develop the AUCDigest. For this issue, I was inspired by the music of a rock band called Flyleaf, particularly their song, "Broken Wings." The song starts out with:

Thank you for being such a friend to me
Oh I pray a friend for life,
And have I ever told you how much you mean to me?
Oh you mean everything to me...
Thinking all the time how to tell you what I feel,
Contemplating phrases....I'm gazing at eternity,
I am floating in serenity...

With this in mind, it has been a tremendous honor and pleasure serving and working with all of you for the past several years, and I wish you the very best with all your endeavors in the future.

With the utmost respect and sincerity, Mat
