The Developmental Disabilities Institute in collaboration with Easter Seals, Incorporated sponsored "The Family Support Navigator Academy" in Detroit, Michigan. Funding for the training was provided by an ADD funded grant on Family Support. The two day event held on February 19 and 20, brought together over 60 parents of children with disabilities and self advocates who want to become future Family Support Navigators.

10 New Hampshire high schools that partnered with a Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) project of the Institute on Disability at the University of New Hampshire significantly reduced their student dropout rates.

The US Census Bureau has already sent out mailers alerting individuals and families that the 2010 census is on the way and aired a number of television advertisements. This week, the bureau began mailing the 10-question form in an effort to count every person living in America, one by one. It's critical that the population count be as accurate as possible so that state and federal funds can be distributed appropriately.

The book is edited by Meg Grigal of TransCend and Debra Hart of ICI in Boston and contains a wealth of information regarding Post Secondary Education for students with intellectual disabilities.

The book provides information and tools to support all children whose primary way to communicate is through challenging behaviors. The authors address what behaviors children use to communicate, what kinds of messages they may be sending, and how adults can ask six critical questions to better understand and meet children's needs.

The House of Representatives passed HR 4247, the Keeping All Students Safe Act (formerly the Preventing Harmful Restraint and Seclusion in Schools Act) on March 3, 2010.
