LEND Lived Experience Summit

The summit was held via Zoom on Monday and Tuesday, March 4-5, 2024, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

In September of 2021, the LEND Family Discipline Network, with support from AUCD’s Interdisciplinary Technical Assistance Center (ITAC) on Autism and Developmental Disabilities, hosted a series of facilitated workshops and conversations on family support in LEND. The 2021 Summit was for LEND leaders and trainees in the field of family discipline.

The LEND Self-Advocacy Discipline Network and LEND Family Discipline Network have joined forces this year to showcase leaders' and trainees' work and best practices in the Self-Advocacy and Family discipline. With facilitated workshops and poster presentations, it’s an opportunity to discuss critical questions and share best practices for addressing equity within their programs and in life beyond their traineeship.

The 2024 Virtual Summit was free to attend. A final agenda will be available by the end of February. Event materials will be shared one week before the event.

By the end of the LEND Lived Experience Summit, attendees learned:

  • To understand/recognize the value of Self-Advocacy and Family as professional disciplines.
  • To strengthen and energize existing connections within the lived experience community.
  • To foster new relationships with support professionals outside of the LEND Lived Experience community.

Learning Goals for the LEND Lived Experience Summit were:

  • Introduce the history and goals of the LEND Self-Advocacy discipline.
  • Introduce the history and goals of the LEND Family discipline.
  • Share best practices and identify opportunities for growth in the lived experience community.
  • Network within and across disciplines by fostering a collaborative environment.
