Briefly describe the activity and its purpose.

We hold monthly leadership seminars where leaders in the field of maternal and child health come speak with our trainees about their personal leadership philosophies and experiences. We include leaders at the local, state and federal levels for an array of perspectives.

Leaders have included:

  • Retired Captain, HRSA, US Public Health Service
  • Dean, College of Public Health, USF
  • Community leader in the Tampa Bay area
  • Professor and Department Chair of Department of Community and Family Health, College of Public Health, USF (former state epidemiologist)
  • Emeritus Associate Professor, USF (specialist in leadership and public health practice)

The articles (attached) were handouts trainees received from one of the leaders. An additional article (copyright protected) was shared from The Harvard Business Review: The Manager's Job: Folklore and Fact.
