LEND Team Assignment on Disability Policy

Rationale for Policy/Advocacy Session

To provide trainees with a more in-depth experience in examining the policy process, current issues, and specific pieces of legislation that affect the lives of individuals with developmental and related disabilities. Session Learning Objectives: Through participation in this session, trainees will: 1) List the key components of five current, important disability policy areas/issues; 2) Describe 2-3 key points for how each policy area affects children and adults with disabilities and their families; 3) Reflect on how these policies may apply to their work with and on behalf of children and adults with disabilities and their families; 4) Create one personal action plan step for incorporating Policy/Advocacy into the LEND learning experience
