Autism spectrum disorder prevalence in immigrant communities in Minnesota: Data from the MN-ADDM Study

We will present autism prevalence data for Minnesota, with a special focus on prevalence in Somali and Hmong children in our state.

Increasing Health Equity for Children with Disabilities: Barriers and Facilitators of Access to Health Care

A substantial body of research has examined the use of health care by people with disabilities. Using the 2017-2018 National Survey on Children's health, this presentation assesses the negative impact that multiple social determinants have on access to health care for children with disabilities in the United States. It also examines the impact of resiliency factors on mitigating the impact of barriers.

Disparities in Social Determinants of Health Between Children and Youth with Special Healthcare Needs (CYSHCN) and Non-CYSHCN

People with disabilities tend to experience health inequities at higher levels than those without a disability. The presentation highlights significant differences in disparities between CYSHCN and non-CYSHCN. These data can be used to bring awareness to the inequities experienced by this vulnerable population and influence policies targeting healthcare improvements.

Integrating the needs and experiences of individuals with disabilities in a COVID-19 community needs assessment

This presentation will report on the integration of the unmet needs and experiences of individuals with disabilities related to COVID-19. A community needs assessment focused on the following population groups: refugees and immigrants, the LGBTQ community and individuals with disabilities. The findings will inform the Anchorage Health Department in designing educational and public health messaging materials. Relevant disciplines include: public health; social work, health education and health care disciplines
