This presentation will focus on the Institute on Community Integration's work in supporting the development of international leadership in inclusive education, employment, and community living services. The panel will provide information with respect to approaches taken to develop and sustain professional and program development in Armenia, India, Kazakstan, Russia, and Ukraine as well as include presentations by international fellows describing how they are fostering enhanced inclusion in their countries.

Children who are DHH with comorbid developmental disabilities present with complex developmental and medical needs requiring the expertise of professionals from multiple disciplines. This presentation will examine conditions that co-occur in children who are DHH and review the advantages and challenges associated with center-based interdisciplinary evaluation procedures currently employed in four university-affiliated institutions. Considerations in fair assessment procedures with this population will be included.

This proposal will highlight multiple related research projects with the common goal of impacting change, capacity building, and advocacy for people with disabilities through strengths-based approaches. These projects include assessment and application of evidence-based interventions to enhance self-determination in education and adult services contexts as well as measurement and identification of support needs. Investigators and trainees will share research, tools, and experiences with attendees.
Putting it into Practice: Strategically Supporting Exemplary Interdisciplinary Clinics for Training in Challenging Times

Aligning best practices promoted by UCEDD and LEND programs for interdisciplinary, patient and family-centered care service provision within current health care systems can be challenging. This session will provide a forum for participants to learn from the activities completed at the Waisman Center Clinics during a strategic planning/doing process involving UCEDD & LEND programs, and an opportunity to share and learn from similar activities conducted in other programs.

Workshop goal: Participants understand the necessity of developing strong parent-professional partnerships for optimal health outcomes for children with disabilities. Core activities underscore the power and importance of personal story to increase the likelihood health care messages arereceived and implemented. Participants explore concepts of inclusion/exclusion as they relate to creating successful partnerships and engage in experiential learning to facilitate connection through listening with intention-- bringing health theory to life.

Human Development Institute?s Family Mentorship Program: Building Relationships with People with Disabilities and Their Families and Trainees

The University of Kentucky?s Human Development Institute (HDI) has a family mentorship program where we match individual students with a family of a child, adolescent or young adult with a significant disability, so that they can learn first-hand from the family?s perspective. The panelists will share their experiences in the family mentorship program from the perspectives of a family mentor and a current trainee learning from a mentor family.

Students with intellectual disability are preparing for employment through postsecondary education. This panel presentation describes the employment activities of students attending Transition and Postsecondary Programs for Students with Intellectual Disabilities (TPSIDs) and findings from a focus group study on strategies and challenges to obtaining paid employment for students with ID in college and after. Two TPSID programs share activities they used to support students with ID to obtain employment.

States are shifting the management of both Medicaid medical and non-medical (long-term services and supports) programs to Managed Care Organizations in an attempt to achieve the triple aim of decreased cost, improved health outcomes & improved patient satisfaction. In this session, participants will learn the reasons for this policy shift, be presented with best practice models and understand how they can influence quality programming with this policy change.

AUCD is a diverse network of individuals, family members, trainees, faculty and researchers. This diversity has contributed to best practices in multiple fields. The arts provides great opportunity to express things that are difficult to put into words. Use of artistic expression can also be a great outlet for young people with disabilities to showcase their talents, cultural experiences, and self-advocate to make sure that they are heard and their needs are met.
