Effective Advocacy for Maternal and Child Health Issues in Indiana and Beyond

Trainees have pre- and post-work, and they are provided with a variety of handouts.

Pre-work:

  • Identify your state and federal elected officials
  • Identify professional organizations for your discipline that provide policy updates and action alerts

Handouts:

  • Relevant bills from current or most recent state legislative session related to MCH (to be used for a small group activity on giving testimony).

Post-work:

  • Send a letter to state Representatives about an MCH Issue
  • Send an email to the Congressional delegation about MCH Issue
  • Meet with state Representative
  • Meet with Congressional delegation
  • Give testimony on the issue
