Join us for updates on how the latest national research indicates autistic individuals are gaining, maintaining, and using Medicaid that point toward areas for policy and program change. Experiences from Pennsylvania, a state with two of the first and only Medicaid programs to serve autistic adults, will describe how practice is unfolding on the ground and where research is needed to improve health outcomes.

Research demonstrates that autistic individuals interact with the criminal justice system at high rates. These interactions consequently are risk factors to physical, behavioral, and mental health, as well as the overall wellbeing of autistic individuals. The Global Autism and Criminal Justice Consortium was developed to address this issue and respond to calls from the autism community to prioritize criminal justice concerns.

This panel of experts will describe the process used for recruitment and retention of diverse faculty and the challenges and barriers each faced throughout their experiences.

The goals of this presentation are to share the strategies the UCEDD uses to sustain the Interdisciplinary Training Program as an online model, and, encourage discussion among other training directors, coordinators, and staff about innovative strategies to recruit, engage, retain, and effectively train a diverse pool of trainees.

The conference brings national speakers to present on the latest research and practice related to addressing and reducing socially determined health disparities.

Join us for Sex Talk for Self-Advocates Webinar #5. This webinar focuses on birth control and contraception for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This webinar is part of an on-going series that addresses self-advocate questions about relationships and sexuality. This series is a great learning opportunity for self-advocates, and professionals and paraprofessionals working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to better understand sexual health needs.

Sexual health is an important topic for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Unfortunately, conversations related to sexual health are often not fully addressed or are pushed aside because of fear, lack of comfort with the topic, or lack of information. Join us for a webinar on the importance of sexual health for individuals with IDD. Participants will hear from Joe Shapiro from NPR and Barbara Thomas from the Tall Institute as they discuss why this sensitive topic needs to be addressed.

The APHA Disability Section will be hosting a webinar featuring three outstanding presenters! The purpose of these webinars is to promote learning and to provide an opportunity for students and Disability Section members to share their research throughout the year. This webinar will focus on Social Influences of Health and Wellbeing among Individuals with Functional Impairments. The moderator of this webinar is Erica Twardzik, MS. Erica is a doctoral candidate at the University of Michigan, where she works to advance health equity for adults with disabilities through research, education, and leadership.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is under-diagnosed and under-treated in young children, particularly in disadvantaged populations. Children from minority and low-income populations receive referral, diagnosis and treatment later and less often, and report having less information about how to obtain care, more problems obtaining care, and fewer support services to connect them to care. This webinar will provide an overview of the Screening and Linkage to Services for Autism (SaLSA) study, which aims to evaluate an autism patient navigator program for low income families with young children who screen positive for ASD. Preliminary results of the study, including individual and system barriers to obtaining screening, referral, early intervention evaluation and services will be described.

This webinar will: (1) introduce the Embedding Project to the members of the NTDC; and (2) share the array of resources and tools designed to build the capacity of network programs to embed widely accepted Cultural and Linguistic Competence (CLC) policies, structures, and practices across the four UCEDD core functions of interdisciplinary pre-service training and continuing education, community services, research and evaluation, and information dissemination.
