"Going to Scale: Making What Works Accessible to All"

There are few greater efficiencies in our field than building on the ideas of others, learning what to do and what not to do in developing programs, and gaining invaluable insights into what works and why. Skill preparation and planning for health care transition for children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) is inadequate. Only 41% of families nationwide state their CYSHCN have received the services necessary to make appropriate transitions to adult health care, work, and independence. One of the major problems to receiving this care is the lack of a physician and other health care workforce trained in providing the services necessary to make the health care transition. There is a strong need on the part of physicians and all health care providers to have the knowledge and skills to provide services to facilitate successful transition from pediatric to adult-based care.

Easter Seals is pleased to announce a free 2-day training conference for parents of children with disabilities and self advocates. The Family Support Navigator Academy is designed to train Navigators in the philosophy, ethics, and skills needed to implement a family-centered, empowerment model of support.

This webcast represents a collaborative effort between HRSA, MCHB, and the Office of Rural Health Policy. It will provide information regarding the issues of CSHCN in Rural Communities. The webinar will consist of a three person panel and include a discussion about technology, research, and state systems specific to CSHCN in rural communities.

Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology (MCH EPI) conference organizers invite all first year/new fellows, interns, trainees, and CDC EIS Officers to join other researchers and health professionals working on issues related to improving the health of women, children and families in sharing research, enhancing knowledge, and generating new ideas for improved MCH data use and informed policymaking in San Antonio, Texas, December 15 - 17, 2010!

This webinar offered trainees an orientation to the 2011 Disability Policy Seminar. In addition to information about the Seminar itself, trainees learned the basics of how to meet with Congressional representatives and deliver the unified message that persons with disabilities must have equal opportunity to participate in our economy and society.
