An individual's perception of the risk of developing a disability may depend on a set of biases. This project investigates the "optimistic bias" in relation to risk of experiencing a disability. Results show that individuals tend to perceive higher risks of developing disabilities to others than to themselves, and sex and contact with people with disabilities are related to these perceptions.Back to Session: Welcome Reception and Poster Session
