Birth to Five, Watch Me Thrive! A Coordinated Federal Effort

Sunday, November 9, 2014 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM

Location: Congressional Hall B

Session Description

Double Helix

Developmental and behavioral screening and support for children, families, and the providers who care for them is a critical component of early childhood intervention. Birth to 5: Watch Me Thrive! is a federal coordinated interagency effort to encourage comprehensive community based screening programs in coordination with the children's medical home in order to help all infants and young children receive the intervention they may need to grow and develop.

The workshop will provide an overview of the various federal agency initiatives that collectively contribute to Birth to 5: Watch Me Thrive!, including an overview of a compendium of research-based screening tools; "User's Guides" for multiple audiences; an electronic package of resources for follow-up and support; and a Screening Passport for Families for keeping track of screenings, results, and follow up steps, as well as coordinate information with multiple providers to support interventions and services. The audience will be engaged in discussion to share updates on related local efforts.
