AIR-P Presents: Evaluating the Use of Flexible Seating for Neurotypical and Neurodivergent Children
In this webinar, Laura will begin by discussing the research to practice gap in autism education, before emphasizing the need to take a collaborative approach when it comes to meeting the needs of autistic young people in school. Laura will then focus on a case example of a research-practice partnership, where researchers at the Centre for Research in Autism and Education (CRAE) worked collaboratively with staff from an inclusive school for children aged 4-11 years, to evaluate the use of flexible seating in classrooms.

#VaccinateByADA: Strategies for COVID-19 Vaccine Access and Confidence for People with Disabilities
We invite you to join the AUCD Public Health Team for a webinar on Strategies for COVID-19 Vaccine Access and Confidence for People with Disabilities. Members of the COVID-19 Vaccine Access and Confidence Among People with Disabilities Initiative Community of Practice will share outreach strategies, lessons learned, and continuing barriers in the goal of vaccinating all eligible persons with disabilities by the 31st Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act on July 26th. AIR-P and ARRB Present: Conducting Quality Participatory Autism Research
In this webinar, the AIR-P Autistic Researcher Review Board (ARRB) will discuss how autism researchers can respect and include the autistic community in their work from participants to co-researchers. ARRB researchers will discuss autistic experiences with participatory research approaches that include diverse autistic people from across the autism spectrum as members of research teams. Furthermore, ARRB researchers will present concrete recommendations about how participatory research practices can be implemented. Considerations around appropriate and respectful autism terminology will be addressed.

AUCD includes 5 Councils that address emerging trends and issues to facilitate communication across and beyond the AUCD network, including community education, leadership and advocacy, research and evaluation, diversity and inclusion, and interdisciplinary training. This year, one trainee per Council will be selected as a Council Trainee Representative and act as a liaison between the Emerging Leaders Community and the Council.

AUCD Leadership Academy
The AUCD Leadership Academy is a week-long program designed to enhance the skills of current and emerging leaders from the disability network in building coalitions that will improve systems of supports and services. Participation is open to individuals from Self Advocacy Organizations, UCEDDs, LENDs, IDDRCs, CILs, DD Councils, Disability Rights, community based disability organizations, and other disability partners to come together to immerse themselves for a week of study, shared experiences, self-evaluation, and skill development. Participants will continue to engage with their cohort, academy staff, local coaches, and national allies in the year following the experience. The academy will focus on the exploration of shared values and commitments to civil and human rights, assessments of personal and leadership strengths, skills in building partnerships to achieve collective impact, and establishing personal and professional leadership goals.
