AIR-P and ARRB Present: Conducting Quality Participatory Autism Research

In this webinar, the AIR-P Autistic Researcher Review Board (ARRB) will discuss how autism researchers can respect and include the autistic community in their work from participants to co-researchers. ARRB researchers will discuss autistic experiences with participatory research approaches that include diverse autistic people from across the autism spectrum as members of research teams. Furthermore, ARRB researchers will present concrete recommendations about how participatory research practices can be implemented. Considerations around appropriate and respectful autism terminology will be addressed.

We offer a FREE online training, a thriving online community for local disability organizations, and a practicum opportunity open to all AUCD trainees. This webinar will provide an exclusive expanded look at the online training and you'll hear from local disability organizations and AUCD trainees about their work with Prepared4ALL. AIR-P Presents - Brain and Body in Motion: Understanding and supporting motor dysfunction in Autism

Motor dysfunction are prevalent and pervasive in autistic individuals. However, due to the heterogeneity of motor dysfunction and the categorization in DSM-5 as an associated deficit, this condition often goes undetected and undertreated. Improving our understanding of motor dysfunction in autism is important so that we can adequately screen for these difficulties and ultimately provide the best interventions.

We invite you to join the AUCD Public Health Team for a webinar on Strategies for COVID-19 Vaccine Access and Confidence for People with Disabilities. Members of the COVID-19 Vaccine Access and Confidence Among People with Disabilities Initiative Community of Practice will share outreach strategies, lessons learned, and continuing barriers in the goal of vaccinating all eligible persons with disabilities by the 31st Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act on July 26th. Disability and Health Data System (DHDS): Using Data to Take Action

2021 Autism CARES Grantee Meeting: Committing to Health Equity Across the Lifespan

The 2021 Autism CARES Meeting will be held Wednesday, July 21st from 2 PM - 5 PM ET via Zoom. This virtual event is an opportunity for HRSA-funded CARES grantees (representing research, training, and state systems) to share information about activities within their respective networks, discuss emerging trends, and facilitate meaningful collaboration. The meeting includes both panels and roundtable discussions.

AIR-P Presents: Addressing Reproductive Health and Obstetrics/Gynecology Health Care in Autistic Adults

Dr. Jennifer Ames from the AIR-P Gender, Sexuality, and Reproductive Health Research Node, will describe ongoing research examining reproductive health and obstetrics/gynecology health care gaps for autistic people, inclusive of female, transgender, and gender-diverse identities. The presentation will focus on topics such OB/GYN clinic visits, cervical cancer screenings, and use of hormonal contraception, with particular attention to differences across sociodemographic characteristics. Future work investigating obstetric care quality and pregnancy experiences will also be discussed.

Promoting Vaccine Confidence in Neurodivergent Communities: Lessons Learned from Stakeholder Engagement and Social Media Outreach

This webinar will present lessons learned from a project that seeks to promote vaccine confidence in the disability community during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this student-driven project, supported by an AUCD-CDC Dissemination Innovation Mini-grant, students and trainees from UCLA and LA COVID volunteers conducted a stakeholder engagement strategy to inform communication and dissemination efforts to promote vaccine confidence.
