Elizabeth McCormick

Elizabeth McCormick

"Elizabeth McCormick is AUCD's Summer Intern through the American Association of People with Disabilities' Summer Internship Program. She received her B.A. in Public Policy and Management from SUNY Albany in May 2021, and in the Fall she will return to work on her Master of Public Administration. Elizabeth was born with cerebral palsy and grew up in Niagara Falls, New York. Throughout her childhood she realized the struggles disabled people face and became passionate about disability justice and advocacy. Today, she is interested in an array of issues, including reform of the social insurance system, the experiences of disabled people with higher education, and ending subminimum wage for disabled people. On her college campus she was a highly involved student and advocated for more supports for disabled students. In the future, Elizabeth wants to advocate for systems-level change through policy work. When not engaging in activism, Elizabeth loves musical theatre and all things Disney."
