Sarah Mueller, MPP

Sarah Mueller, MPP, was the 2019-2020 Disability Policy Fellow where she worked on federal policy and legislative issues that impact people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. She was an intergal member in the passage of the Autism CARES Act of 2019, national legislative and social media campaign, #WhatWeNeed, on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on people and families with disabilities, and advanced AUCD policy publications and communications to be in plain language. Sarah went on to be the 2020-2021 Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation Public Policy Fellow working on the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) for Senator Patty Murray. Before joining AUCD, Sarah served as a UCEDD trainee at the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University while earning a Masters in Public Policy and graduate certificate in Disability Studies. As a trainee, she provided technical assistance for the College of Direct Support, Developmental Disability Council meeting support for Pennsylvania's self advocates; supported the public policy team; and worked at the Augmentative Communication Empowerment Supports (ACES) summer intensive. Sarah earned a Bachelors in Special Education from Eastern Michigan University, and taught high school students with intellectual disabilities in Rochester Hills, MI. Both as a sibling to a sister with Down syndrome and as a professional, Sarah has a passionate dedication to serving and progressing the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities, especially creating social policies for people with disabilities that are just and equitable.
