The Department of Pediatrics, in conjunction with Step Up AT Program has an exciting opportunity for a Full-time Research Associate 3 SOM. The Senior Research Associate 3 supports educational research activities under the direction of a principal investigator, program director or designee of the principal investigator or program director.

  • Contributes to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data.
  • Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.
  • Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.
  • Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice.
  • Designs, evaluates, and implements methods and protocols for assigned research projects.
  • Recommends purchase of new equipment for research projects.
  • Writes scientific articles and manuscripts for publication and presentation.
  • Prepares analytical reports relative to research data.
  • Designs, administers, and implements research projects as specified in the project plan.
  • Collects data in accordance with ethical and technical principles.
  • Selects and applies appropriate quantitative, statistical, and/or qualitative methods for analysis and interpretation of data.
  • Works closely with the program manager in the coordination of daily operations of the project, both in research and programmatic functions
  • Writes manuscripts for submission to professional and/or scientific journals or reports to the sponsoring agency.
  • Collaborates with researchers, scholars and other stakeholders as relevant to the project.
  • Assists in the drafting of proposals for new/renewed research funding.
  • Leads meetings with research team and collaborate with researchers, scholars, and other stakeholders as relevant to the project
  • Ensures that research projects comply with scientific and ethical requirements.
  • May contribute to applications for external funding as a co-principal investigator.
  • May serve as a principal investigator on a funded research or scholarship project or as a co-investigator under the general direction of a principal investigator.
  • May present at professional conferences and meetings in the relevant field.
  • May hire and supervise staff and students working on grant-related projects.

Minimum Qualifications:                                                                              

  • Master’s Degree in relevant field
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Background in exceptional student education or early childhood education with experience in utilizing mixed methods in research. 
  • Experience in working collaboratively in the research realm.
  • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
  • Ability to work 9 to 5, Monday through Friday, and weekends as necessary.
