Research Program Coordinator, Texas Center for Disability Studies (TCDS), Austin, TX

Candidates are currently being considered for a full-time research program coordinator position at the Texas Center for Disability Studies (TCDS) in the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at University of Texas at Austin.  The primary focus of the RPC’s work will be to coordinate research studies at TCDS. 

Responsibilities

The Research Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting the principal investigators in the development and implementation of the research projects. This includes

  • Developing recruitment materials
  • Helping with Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions
  • Overseeing recruitment and enrollment of study participants
  • Arranging and coordinating multi-family group sessions 3 times/month
  • Assisting with recruiting, hiring and training community health workers (CHWs)
  • Supervising CHWs and checking fidelity of intervention implementation
  • Conducting assessments and pretests with study participants and training graduate students to conduct assessments
  • Assisting with data collection and data entry
  • Prioritizing tasks and respond to the needs of research staff
  • Effectively communicating by telephone, in person and electronically
  • Creating reports, update the website and manage social media for the studies

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, public health, education or related field
  • Knowledge and experience working with racial/ethnically diverse communities
  • Knowledge of research principles and ethics, ability to follow research protocols
  • Research experience collecting and entering data, and conducting interviews and assessments
  • Knowledge of basic statistical methods (descriptive statistics minimally) and use of associated software
  • Experience working with children and/or adults with developmental disabilities
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook email and calendar apps
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, communication, and time management skills

Preferred qualifications

  • Fluency in Spanish and knowledge of Latino culture
  • Experience with developing and managing IRB documents
  • Experience providing education and training to underserved populations
  • Experience with statistical analysis including multivariate analysis
