Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA-accredited doctoral program
  • Completion of an APA-accredited internship, preferred
  • Completion of fellowship, or commensurate experience, involving children who have autism or other developmental differences
  • TN Licensed or License Eligible
  • Approved credentialing from VUMC Provider Support Services
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated skill with clinical assessment, diagnosis, and intervention planning

Responsibilities

  • Perform psychological assessment of school aged children to include: interview of parents and children; perform measures of cognition, early development, adaptive skills, specific emotional and behavior symptoms, and autism; provide verbal and written feedback to individuals and families
  • Complete EMR documentation in a timely manner
  • Provide mentorship and supervision to interdisciplinary trainees
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Full Job Description

The Division of Developmental Medicine, within the Department of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, seeks applications for a full-time *academic* pediatric psychologist to join our team of developmental-behavioral pediatricians, psychologists, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers. Our program sees children from birth to 22 years with a variety of developmental differences including autism, intellectual development disorder, developmental delay, motor challenges, ADHD, Down syndrome, anxiety disorders, behavioral problems, and more. Work will take place in a clinical academic medical center setting. Position is available immediately but start date is flexible.

This position will primarily focus on clinical service, but provides collateral opportunities for teaching, program development, and/or research. Primary responsibilities include psychological assessment of school-aged patients in an outpatient setting with a focus in autism. Psychologists will perform independent evaluations and contribute to team-based integrated assessments. The role may include clinical teaching of post-doctoral psychology fellows, developmental-behavioral medical fellows, residents, and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Opportunities to focus academic effort and growth are available in research, quality improvement, and education. Partnerships with outpatient pediatric providers, as well as faculty in TRIAD (Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorder) and the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center are available, as is mentorship in each of these areas. All applicants must hold a Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an APA-accredited doctoral program and preferably have completed an APA-accredited internship. Graduate, research and internship training experience in autism and/or other developmental differences is preferred. Bi-lingual competency in Spanish is also valued. Academic appointment and compensation will be consistent with experience and hospital policies.
