JOB OPPORTUNITY WITH THE ADMINISTRATION FOR COMMUNITY LIVING

The Administration for Community Living (ACL) increases access to community support and resources for the unique needs of older Americans and people with disabilities. ACL has the immediate need to fill a position serving as an administrative assistant and reader for individuals with disabilities within the agency. This is a full-time federal position in the excepted service. We provided some details of the position, below:

  • Position Title: Administrative Support Assistant (Reader)
  • Position Series and Grade: GS-0303-09
  • Starting Salary: $61,947
  • Length of employment: Not to exceed 3 years, may be extended
  • Required to report to the Official Duty Station in Washington DC one day per week and the Alternate Duty Station for the employee with a disability 4 days per week.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As a Reading Assistant, you will use your knowledge and experience by:

  • Providing reading and administrative support services for an employee with a disability who is blind or visually impaired or otherwise requires reading support.
  • Providing staff assistance and support by assisting in the development of administrative documents and acting as an administrative liaison for the office when necessary.
  • Providing assistance with activities for daily living to support the personal needs of an individual with a disability, which may include but are not limited: assisting with putting on and removing jacket/coat; assistance with meal preparation and/or feeding; and, assisting with personal tasks such as filling water bottle, reaching or picking up objects for the employee.
  • Performs a variety of general clerical functions in support of activities as well as typing letters, memoranda, and reports, etc.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. All information concerning qualifications is subject to investigation.

  • All Federal employees are required to have Federal salary payments made by direct deposit to a financial institution of their choice.
