Are you interested in building your skills in training, technical assistance and communications while working at a national disability nonprofit? Do you have a passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion and want to make an impact on a national scale?

 The ED&I Project internship will aim to (1) provide the intern with experience in resource development, information dissemination, and project evaluation, (2) broaden the intern’s knowledge of AUCD’s programs, priorities, and membership and (3) promote equity, diversity, and inclusion through the creation and dissemination of resources and other products.

 The internship is a temporary and remote position from June-August 2022.

Overview of Responsibilities

The Equity Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I) Project Intern at AUCD will assist and carry out work that will enhance the operations of AUCD’s technical assistance teams and the AUCD Network through materials development, information exchange, and project evaluation. This position will provide support on a range of activities that furthers the mission and goals of members of the AUCD network, particularly as it relates to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in the AUCD network, while providing the opportunity for career development and networking. The intern may work on projects such as compiling resources related to equity, diversity, and inclusion for the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Hub, developing and writing blog posts about UCEDD (University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research & Service) success stories, meeting planning and support, and creating new resources of relevance to the AUCD network. The intern will also have opportunities to participate in national meetings and make connections within the AUCD network and gain experience in using content management systems to update websites.

Position Requirements

  • Experience:
    • Prior experience in an office setting.
    • Skills in writing for a range of audiences and purposes.
    • Engagement with topics related to equity diversity and inclusion.
    • Computer/System Skills: Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration tools such as Zoom and SharePoint, Survey Monkey, etc.
    • Preferred qualifications:
      • Experience working with an AUCD network center, federal and/or state agencies.
      • Current or former trainees are encouraged to apply.
      • Experience in communications, administrative support, or website management.

Compensation

This position is part-time (15-20 hours per week) and includes a stipend of $4,500 for the entire period, approximately 12 weeks.
