Are you an organized, service-oriented, database management professional who is looking to balance your data quality management and help-desk skills with your passion to help a great cause?  AUCD, a national nonprofit organization that supports the disability community, is seeking a new Data Support Manager to assist approximately 130 federally funded, university-based disability training and research centers with their data collection, organization, analysis, and federal reporting requirements.

 

As our Data Support Manager, you will assist in the oversight of AUCD’s proprietary online relational database as well as provide leadership to our staff and network on the effective use of existing and new data to highlight the work and impact of individual centers and programs.  You’ll also provide support and training regarding the daily use of data systems, test periodic database updates, mine data and develop public reports and documentation.

 

In this role, you will report jointly to three stakeholders within AUCD and work collaboratively across teams within our central office, national network, and federal funders.

Overview of Some Responsibilities

  • Assist in the maintenance of AUCD’s National Information Reporting System (NIRS) a comprehensive program for data management.
  • Assist in the design of database enhancements, testing, and implementation of data collection software to support AUCD strategic objectives.
  • Generate, edit, and maintain training materials including guidance and TA documents, online learning modules.
  • Train and educate database users with varying degrees of technical knowledge to effectively use the database systems (including planning, creating materials for, hosting, and archiving annual in-person training events; semi-annual remote orientation events; quarterly users’ conference calls; and website updates).
  • Respond in a timely manner to questions from network members on data collection, database, federal reporting, and other related topics (help-desk response to user questions).
  • Troubleshoot data submission errors and data error issues, research solutions, and promptly resolve problems; regularly review data for inconsistencies or anomalies that could skew analytical results.
  • Assist Director of Web Services in preparing data from centers for import into Federal Agencies systems by exporting data from the NIRS database.

 

Position Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field or 4 years of equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience with database management that includes data collection, analysis, and reporting, (including working with large data sets).  You must also have a demonstrated understanding of database relational models, SQL statements and the ability to use SQL to create report queries. 
  • Experience working with developers and other IT professionals, writing business requirements, and translating complex technical terms into non-technical terms for users.  Experience with performing robust user acceptance testing.
  • Knowledge of current software products, including report writers, display technologies, and interactive data manipulation and display. Experience using Data visualization tools such as Tableau and project management software such as Monday.com.  Ability to troubleshoot and replicate database errors.

 

You will be a considered a preferred candidate if you also have:

  • Knowledge of disability issues, federal disability services, relevant agencies and university systems.
  • Experience in a UCEDD, LEND, or other university-based research and development center.

 

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000.  This position is funded by a federal contract and cooperative agreement and will be contingent upon continued funding.

Note: this will be an in-office position once AUCD begins a gradual return to our office in Silver Spring.  At this time, AUCD will continue to operate remotely through late Spring 2022, after that a phased in return will take place.
