Psychology Post-doctoral Fellowships-Child Psychology with Underserved Populations (Developmental Disabilities or Child Welfare)
Westchester Institute for Human Development, Valhalla, NY
The Westchester Institute for Human Development (WIHD)-UCEED is currently seeking applicants for post-doctoral fellows for the 2022-2023 year. Located 30 minutes north of New York City, this is a full time APPIC-member post-doctoral fellowship for graduates from clinical, school, counseling, or educational psychology doctoral programs. There are two possible tracks:
Behavioral Psychology/Applied Behavior Analysis: This track provides an opportunity for a fellow to participate in a variety of treatment services to clients across the lifespan. Activities involve providing evidence-based behavioral treatments (Applied Behavior Analysis, CBT, Behavior Therapy, DBT techniques) to adults and children with autism and developmental disabilities, with challenging behavior and/or mental health needs on an outpatient basis. Opportunities may also arise to provide services to group homes and collaborate on behavior plans. A minor rotation may be offered in the assessment of young children with developmental disabilities within the Early Intervention system. Supervised hours towards BCBA certification can also be attained as appropriate.
Child Welfare/Early Childhood Services: This track offers a variety of training experiences including trauma-informed assessment/intervention with children in foster care & their families and assessment/training in early childhood disabilities/autism spectrum disorder.
Both tracks include professional seminars and individual/group supervision opportunities, and potential experience to support supervision of Master’s level students. Fellows also participate one day a week in the 9-month, federally-funded Leadership Training in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) featuring developmental disabilities training from a multi-disciplinary perspective (with content in clinical issues, family-centered care, cultural competence, public health, policy and advocacy, and evidence-based practice), participation in team projects & research groups, attendance at local/national conferences, and opportunities to develop presentation, grant-writing, & legislative advocacy skills.
