The Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Brunswick, NJ

 

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Development Specialist in Pediatrics at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Coordinates and supervises the planning, organization, and development activities of the Money Follows the Person (MFP) Capacity Building project in collaboration with NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) and Boggs Center staff. In collaboration with supervisor, oversees activities focused on the development of a statewide competency-based Career Pathway for Direct Support Professionals and a certification process for NJ Support Coordinators. Coordinates activities related to creating a public awareness campaign and networking to build a statewide pipeline into the Direct Support workforce. Supervises MFP project staff.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Supervises staff tasked with working on the Money Follows the Person (MFP) Capacity Building project.
  • In collaboration with supervisor and DDD, coordinate the development/selection of a competency-based training model and career pathway for DSPs.
  • In collaboration with supervisor and DDD, Coordinate the development of a competency-based training and certification program for Support Coordinators.
  • Coordinate, oversee, and collaborate with team members to review of materials and analysis of SC and DSP training needs and gaps.
  • Coordinate, oversee, and contribute to curriculum development as identified by state stakeholders through review of nationally recognized core competencies and analysis of competency needs and gaps.
  • Coordinate and oversee the development of housing navigator training with expert consultants as needed.
  • Oversee efforts to outreach to and collaborate with community entities to create a pipeline of trained DSPs.
  • Coordinate and oversee efforts to create a media campaign to heighten awareness of the DSPs workforce.
  • Oversee community outreach efforts focused on establishing relationships with One Stop Career Centers and Community Colleges to implement strategies that create a pipeline of qualified direct support professionals.
  • Ensure that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
