The Steve Hicks School of Social Work, which is ranked among the top 10 programs of social work education in the country, awards BSW, MSSW, and PhD degrees within a research-intensive public university. 

The School welcomes applications for Research Assistant Professor. The Research Assistant Professor will build on his/her own program of developmental disability related research and work on building research capacity of the Texas Center for Disability Studies (TCDS) by assisting TCDS staff in writing grant proposals, establishing a TCDS Scientific Advisory Board, fostering collaborations with researchers and community members in Central Texas. The research scientist will submit new grants as a PI and will take the lead on existing research projects when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Build on your own developmental disability related research by continuing currently funded projects, writing scientific papers, presenting at conferences, and developing new research grant proposals.
  • Mentor and train students in the SHSSW and the LEND program
  • Direct Clinical Training in the LEND program
  • Stay abreast of grant opportunities related to the work of TCDS and work with TCDS staff on writing and submitting new proposals.
  • Working with the TCDS Director, establish a Scientific Advisory Committee with faculty across the UT campus

Qualifications

PhD in Psychology, Social Work, or related field with a minimum of 8 years research experience with developmental disability related populations. Experience and proficiency with quantitative research and data analytic methods including multivariate analysis. Evidence of federal grant awards and record of relevant publications.  Fluency in Spanish and experience conducting research with culturally diverse populations.  Experience providing clinical training in a LEND program.

 

Preferred qualifications

Research and clinical expertise in early childhood development and autism. Experience managing research projects. Experience with qualitative methods, intervention research and/or program evaluation.
