AAHD Program Associate

The American Association on Health and Disability (AAHD) www.aahd.us is a cross-disability national non-profit 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to ensuring health equity for children and adults with disabilities. AAHD accomplishes its mission through research, education, policy, and public awareness efforts at the federal, state and community level. The goal of AAHD is to reduce health disparities in people with disabilities and advocate for full community inclusion and accessibility. The official journal of AAHD is the Disability and Health Journal (www.disabilityandhealthjnl.com). AAHD is located in Rockville, MD. A remote position will be considered.

The American Association on Health and Disability (AAHD) is recruiting a full-time Program Associate to serve as the Project Coordinator for the Disability Community Engagement Partner Project (DCEPP) funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) All of Us Research Program. The Project Coordinator will report directly to the Principal Investigator (PI) and Director of the DCEPP (Dr. Charles E. Drum) and project tasks will include the following:

  • The Project Coordinator will support the implementation of DCEPP activities and milestones associated with the engagement, recruitment, and retention of persons with disabilities in the All of Us Research Program.
  • The Project Coordinator will assist the PI in developing Weekly Agendas for Internal DCEPP Team Meetings. The Project Coordinator will also maintain the calendar invites for these meetings.
  • The Project Coordinator will assist the PI in developing Bi-Weekly Agendas for check-in calls with the NIH Program Officer.
  • The Project Coordinator will assist the PI in developing the monthly project report for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Program Officer.
  • The Project Coordinator will serve as the liaison between a consortium of disability organizational partners (the National Consortium for Disability Inclusion) and AAHD. This requires attending regional meetings, monthly meetings with sub-awardees, and assisting with Quarterly Call activities.
  • The Project Associate will perform other administrative tasks including but not limited to meeting facilitation, metrics reporting, and other evaluation activities.
  • The Project Coordinator will join grant writing activities as needed, contributing strategic or programmatic ideas. Involvement will be dependent on relevant experience.

Requisite Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field required. Advanced degree, such as MPH, preferred.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office, statistical analysis program such as SPSS, WordPress, social media applications, Zoom, Adobe Acrobat, survey tools and other applicable software programs.
  • Excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Understanding of Project Management Principles and project implementation experience.
