Are you a research and program evaluation professional who desires to improve early identification of developmental delays and disabilities, including autism, among young children in communities most impacted by COVID-19? AUCD's National Center on Disability in Public Health is seeking a temporary, Evaluation Project Manager to contribute to the evaluation of a one (1) year multi-state project.

The Act Early Response to COVID-19 Project (Act Early/COVID-19) is a national initiative charged with enhancing support for early childhood state/territory systems through the Act Early Ambassador Program to Support COVID-19 Recovery.   State and territorial Act Early/COVID-19 Response Teams developed through this initiative are tasked with developing, implementing, and evaluating strategies to address the many challenges to early identification of developmental delays and disabilities that have been amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the Evaluation Project Manager, you'll be a key part of the evaluation team and will be supported by a Lead Evaluator, Senior Evaluation Project Manager, and Evaluation Project Specialist. You'll be responsible for collaborating with AUCD, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD) and Act Early state/territory team leadership to conceptualize, develop, and implement a comprehensive strategic evaluation plan that identifies and prioritizes evaluation activities to be completed during the funding period.

This is a temporary position with an expected twelve (12) month assignment contingent upon continued funding through a federal cooperative agreement with the CDC and NCBDDD.  The salary range for this position is $63,500 to $65,405.  This position is eligible for remote work.

Position Requirements

You will be qualified for this position if you have completed a graduate program (MPH, MS, MSW, MA, etc.) in the social or health sciences (e.g., public health, public policy, psychology, social work, education, allied health) or completion of a bachelor's degree with at least three (3) years of experience working in human services.

To be our ideal candidate, you should have prior experience planning, conducting, and managing large-scale multi-site program evaluations.  You should also have experience gathering data using qualitative and quantitative approaches and skill in synthesizing information generated through an evaluation to produce findings that are clearly linked to the data collected.  You must also possess a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience using databases and stewarding data.

If you are preferred candidate, you will also have the following:

  • Demonstrated history of success in an evaluation role on multi-state/multi-site state systems change projects.
  • Experience working with grantees at federal or state levels.
  • Familiarity with Learn the Signs. Act Early. and/or the Act Early Initiative.
  • Personal or professional experience with individuals with disabilities and early childhood development.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with, listen to, and learn from a broad range of partners, encouraging their meaningful participation.
  • Ability to prepare and present evaluation results in a manner that increases the likelihood that they will be used and accepted by a diverse group of partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple detailed tasks with accuracy while responding to changing priorities in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others on team and across teams.
