Education and Development Specialist Position at the UCONN UCEDD

The University of Connecticut's A.J. Pappanikou University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service (UConn UCEDD) is looking to fill a Education and Development Specialist position in disability and early childhood intervention to coordinate training across a number of initiatives, including the CT LEND program and a state wide early childhood intervention leadership academy.

 The UConn UCEDD is the UCEDD of the State of Connecticut. It is funded by the Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and authorized under the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2004 (DD Act). The purpose of a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities is to provide preservice and continuing education, community services including training and technical assistance, research and dissemination with and on behalf of people with disabilities and their families, across the lifespan. The Connecticut UCEDD's emphasis areas are taken from the DD Act regulations and for the program are early intervention and schools; health and mental health; community inclusion and leadership development. As part of the national network of 67 University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDDs), we share a vision that foresees a nation in which all Americans, including Americans with disabilities, participate fully in their communities.

The UConn UCEDD Center is located within the School of Medicine and operates as a Type One Center in the Department of Community Medicine and Health Care and has affiliations with other medical and dental school departments and schools in the University. The Center also has a strong community presence and has partnerships with state and local agencies and six other Institutions of Higher Education in the State. In addition, the Center has administered a number of National Research Institutes and other projects of National Significance in Developmental Disabilities research, training and technical assistance. 

The UConn UCEDD is seeking a candidate for one full time Education and Development Specialist. The candidate should have a disability background and training experience at both the University and community level.
