Elizabeth Seton Children's Center (the children's center) seeks an innovative, strategic and collaborative physician executive to serve as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for the country's premier post-acute medical center caring for children with medical complexity.

Now celebrating its 31st year of service, the children's center, based in Yonkers, New York, is a not-for-profit, post-acute medical center that is nationally recognized as a leader caring for 169 children including 65 technology-dependent children.  The children's center is the largest provider of its kind in the country housed in a state-of-the-art 201,000 square foot facility.  The population of children and young adults with complex medical needs is growing in New York State and nationwide.  With advances in technology, an increasing number of children are surviving and even thriving past infancy and early childhood into their teen years and beyond.  As the population of children with medical complex conditions, grows so will the children's center in size, stature, best practices and research.  It is their goal to build the first home of its kind for young adults with medical complexity.  This will be a national model.

The CMO will lead the organization's drive to ensure that care provided across the children's center is of high quality and value.  She/he will also work to improve clinician alignment and satisfaction, and run evidence-based programs, practices and activities that lead to higher quality and safety. It is intended that the CMO will be a critical voice for clinical excellence throughout the children's center and the broader pediatric long-term care community, including research and publishing best practices.

The CMO will provide strategic and operation leadership for all medical services. She/he will plan, organize and direct the daily operations of the Medical Department implementing a vision of care that promotes collaborative efforts of multiple disciplines and insuring that families are partners in care. The CMO will foster an environment where children with medical complexity enjoy the elements of childhood and parents are given hope and peace of mind. She/he will oversee the departments of Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, and Infection Control. The CMO reports directly to the Vice President of Operations of the children's center and collaborates closely with the Chief Nursing Officer, and Vice President of Quality Management.  The CMO is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and participates on Board committees and Board meetings.

Candidates will have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills that are culturally sensitive, embracing diversity, including ideas. She/he will be an MD/DO and have a minimum of 10 years management and medical practice experience preferably within a complex, tertiary care pediatric medical center or a post-acute / long term care pediatric center for children with complex medical conditions. Candidates will have strong credentials with appropriate Board Certification in their Pediatric discipline and be eligible for New York medical Licensure.  We seek individuals with strong emotional intelligence.
