General Description:

The Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies assumes responsibility and accountability for the administration of the undergraduate programs within the School of Nursing (UMSN). The Associate Dean will provide leadership for and oversight of baccalaureate curriculum development and implementation, including effective and efficient program delivery, and program evaluation, with a view to strategic directions for the future. S/he will represent the Dean of the UMSN on campus related to matters of academic affairs, Interprofessional Education, and the undergraduate programs. The Associate Dean assures appropriate communications among groups with whom s/he serves as the chief link and ambassador. S/he has the responsibility and freedom to act within approved budget targets, signature authorization and university policy. The Associate Dean is expected to take prompt action to respond to quality, service or financial issues. In addition, this position participates in or chairs committees and task force groups as requested and serves on UMSN administrative group as appropriate.

  •  Doctorate degree in nursing is required.
  •  A current MI nursing license is required or eligibility to obtain a nursing license in the state of Michigan.
  •  Prior to start date must be in compliance with all health requirements including standard 
    such as Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, orientations, licenses/certifications, 
     policies and procedures both internal and external to the University.
  •  The candidate must have a sustained and unequivocal record of excellence in scholarship related       to undergraduate and clinical education in both nursing and inter-professional education.
