The Ohio State University College of Dentistry (CoD) seeks applicants for a full-time clinical track faculty position at the rank of assistant/associate professor in the Division of Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry to serve as Director of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) Nisonger Center Dental Clinic. Primary responsibilities at the Nisonger Center include delivering the full range of dental care to adults with developmental disabilities; providing teaching and oversight of the training program for dental and dental hygiene students, residents, and fellows from the CoD; recruiting, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating professional and support staff; and developing budgets that support the financial objectives of the clinic. Other duties include representing the center as an advocate for individuals with developmental disabilities; directing, articulating and implementing strategies for continued quality and efficiency of patient care; and overseeing and assuring compliance with federal and state requirements and licenses.
In the CoD, responsibilities involve didactic and clinical teaching of residents in the General Practice Residency program, and contributing to the mission of the division and governance of the college. Practice opportunities also exist in the CoD's intramural affiliated Dental Faculty Practice.
Established in 1966, the Nisonger Center is one of several federally funded University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities. The center's team of researchers, clinicians, teachers, staff, and trainees strive to improve the lives of developmentally disabled individuals and their families. The center's success results from collaborations among faculty members in the Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Arts and Sciences, Education and Human Ecology, Social Work, and Public Health.
The Ohio State University is an R1 research-intensive university with seven health science colleges on its campus - dentistry, medicine, nursing, optometry, pharmacy, public health, and veterinary medicine. The College of Dentistry is physically and professionally connected to the OSUWMC, and it is Ohio's only state-supported dental school. Comprised of nine divisions, the college supports nine advanced education programs accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
Candidates for this position must have the following credentials: a DDS/DMD degree or equivalent degree; completion of a CODA-accredited GPR/AEGD program; ALS certification from the American Heart Association; eligibility for an Ohio State Dental Board regular dental license and hospital privileges at the OSUWMC. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in dental clinic administration, providing dental care in a hospital setting, and in caring for special needs patients.
