Required License/Registration/Certification: RESNA Assistive Technology Practitioner (ATP) Certification or Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS)
Physical Requirements: Risk of back injury from moving, lifting or positioning patients, equipment or materials. Lifting, pushing and/or pulling objects up to 50lbs. Standing or walking with objects up to 10lbs. Working at computer workstation for extended periods and repetitive motion tasks. Intermittent job-related travel.
Shift: Some days, some weekends and evenings.
Job Summary: Human Development Institutes (HDI) Center for Assistive Technology Services (CATS) is seeking a Rehabilitation Technologist Senior to fulfill the needs of the Driver Rehabilitation Contract for the Central Kentucky Region, and to provide rehabilitation technology assessments, training, demonstration, fabrication and refurbishment of technology for HDI CATS.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Inspect vehicles and vehicle modifications to determine if the vehicle and modifications are appropriate for modification, repair or replacement. Assess the need for and identify appropriate equipment for transport-only modifications. Provide rehabilitation technology assessments producing reports with specific recommendations. Design, develop, fabricate and test custom rehabilitation technology equipment for consumers across the lifespan, in consultation with the consumer and other related professionals. Provide installation and training for Assistive Technology (AT) for consumers to ensure that consumers are able to use their equipment effectively. Provide information, training, accommodation assistance, and other AT related services to agency staff, consumers and members of the public.
Preferred Education/Experience: Degree in engineering, especially rehabilitation or biomedical engineering; occupational therapy, physical therapy or speech-language pathology; other engineering, technical or allied health science field w/experience in assistive/rehabilitation technology.
