Assistive Technology Specialist - Department of Disability and Human Development, Assistive Technology Unit, University of Illinois at Chicago

The Department of Disability and Human Development Assistive Technology Unit (ATU) at the University of Illinois at Chicago invites applications for three (3) full-time Assistive Technology Specialists, of which two (2) positions are in the area of architecture, and one (1) is in engineering.
Additionally, the ATU is also seeking two (2) half-time (50%) Assistive Technology Specialists, of which one (1) position is in the area of speech language pathology, and one (1) is in the area of occupational therapy.
We seek a candidates to carry out the following responsibilities within the areas listed:
- Assess client abilities, their home, school and/or work environments for barriers to the client's independence goals
- Discuss current goals with client, family members, therapists, and teachers
- Perform product searches
- Identify appropriate 3rd party payers for Assistive Technology acquisition
- Produce required documentation for Assistive Technology acquisition prior approval
- Communicate with 3rd party payers
