Position Description
The University of Kansas, Institute for Life Span Studies at Parsons, seeks a full-time Trainer. This position will work on a statewide professional development and technical assistance project in the area of childcare and early education focusing on individuals and programs serving infant and toddlers. This person will join a cadre of staff and have responsibility for project activities related to development of training with emphasis on the provision of technical assistance. This person will serve as a trainer/technical assistance provider with responsibility for analysis of needs assessment data and identification of technical assistance needs; development and provision of training and technical assistance activities; development of strategies, content, delivery of highly specialized and focused technical assistance, and development and delivery of information in modularized and on online learner managed systems. Additional responsibilities include development of, contributions to, and the dissemination of materials specific to evidence-based practices in childcare and early education.
Expertise of individuals will be general in the area of early care and education of infants and toddlers and balanced across experience and knowledge of special populations: developmental delays and disabilities, homelessness, foster care, tribal, Head Start/Early Head start families; service delivery settings experience and expertise: home care and center-based care. Geographic location may be considered, as the project will have staff in the Kansas City, Topeka and Wichita areas with others strategically located.
Required Qualifications:
1) Bachelor's in early childhood development or related field.
2) Minimum of one year experience in development of written materials (e.g. technical assistance
plans, individual professional development plans, lesson plans).
3) Minimum of one year experience in coaching other adults/professionals (e.g. mentor coaching,
peer-to-peer coaching, supervising).
4) Minimum of one year experience managing multiple tasks/projects.
5) Minimum of three years of experience with young children (under age 5).
6) Minimum of one year experience with infants/toddlers.
Preferred Qualifications:
1) Master's Degree early childhood or related field.
2) Documented successful teaching/in-service training and technical assistance experience with
adult learners.
3) Minimum of two years of experience working with infants/toddlers.
4) Documented working experience in a child care center.
5) Documented working experience in a home-based child care.
6) Documented working experience with electronic and online databases.
7) Documented experience with public speaking and/or online instruction (conference
presentations, training workshops, teaching at an inservice or preservice level).
8) Documented experience working with specialized populations of infants/toddlers and their
families or other specialized populations (e.g. disabilities, homeless, at risk).
