Associate Director (Position Number # G00110), Partnership for People with Disabilities UCEDD, Virginia Commonwealth University

The Partnership for People with Disabilities at VCU is currently recruiting for an Associate Director. The Partnership is recognized as Virginia's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) by the US Department of Health and Human Services, and is charged with conducting interdisciplinary pre-service and community training, continuing education, direct service, research and evaluation, policy, and dissemination. The Partnership implements these mandates across four content areas: community living, early intervention/early childhood, education, and health. With approximately 100 employees, we manage between 35 and 40 projects, funded through federal, state, and other sources. The Partnership is administratively situated in VCU's School of Education.

This Associate Director will assist the Executive Director with all programmatic requirements of the organization's core funding and project funding. This position also oversees training, technical assistance, and direct service functions. The Associate Director will collaborate with the Associate Director of Research to oversee program development, data collection, and report writing for the organization. The position is a non-tenure track, grant-funded faculty position.

The required qualifications include but are not limited to: 1) PhD or similar degree (e.g., EdD, PsyD) in related field, such as rehabilitation, public health, public policy, education/special education, early childhood, psychology, social work, allied health professions, etc.; 2) Demonstrates knowledge of disability services across the lifespan, and of trends and needs in the disability field locally, regionally, statewide and nationally; 3) Documented experience in collaborating with a variety of individuals with varying backgrounds and abilities including any or all of the following: people with disabilities, family members/caregivers, advocacy and provider groups, community organizations, local and state agencies, and/or national organizations; 4) Documented leadership experience with a diverse team of employees (e.g. faculty, staff, trainees, students, employees with disabilities, family members of children/adults with disabilities, etc.) including supervising work activities and/or supervising direct reports; 5) Documented experience in developing, directing, coordinating, evaluating, or otherwise managing contracts, grants, or other projects and programs; 6) Documented leadership in, or collaboration with others in writing and submitting competitive grant proposals and/or articles for publication; and 7) demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

Preferred qualifications include: 1) A record of leadership in writing and submitting federal grant proposals; 2) A record of successful publishing in refereed journals/book chapters; 3) Documented experience working with/for or training under the UCEDD/LEND Network and/or other national developmental disabilities networks; and/or 4) Documented experience working with/for state or local governmental or non-governmental disabilities organizations. Applicants should be good communicators, have excellent supervisory and leadership/team building skills, be diplomatic in interactions, be able to work in fast-paced environments with issues requiring time sensitive responses and multi-tasking, and be highly productive.
