Job Summary
The Department of Educational Foundations & Special Education invites applications for a tenure track position in Moderate to Severe Disabilities with open rank to begin Fall of 2018. The successful tenure track candidate will be expected to contribute to the success of the department through research, teaching, and service (e.g., program building, administrative committees and leadership, and graduate mentoring). Instructional roles include teaching special education courses in methods for students with moderate to severe disabilities, teaching research methods courses, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in theses and other research. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop or continue an ongoing research agenda in his/her area of expertise, including consistent publications in peer reviewed journals, professional presentations, and externally funded initiatives. Service as chair or committee member on thesis and dissertation committees is expected. The successful candidate must contain strong statistical knowledge and skills including the ability to collect, analyze and interpret quantitative data.

Required Qualifications
Required qualifications include: a) an earned doctorate in Special Education or a closely related field with an appropriate special educational focus (ABDs defending their dissertation by the end of the semester before the start date will be considered for Assistant Professor); b) evidence of independent research/scholarship and/or external funding, commensurate with rank; c) teaching experience in public K-12 settings with individuals with disabilities; and d) formal university instruction commensurate with rank.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates from under represented populations, and those who demonstrate knowledge of diversity, skills in addressing needs of diverse groups, and an appreciation for multiculturalism and multilingualism. Preference will also be given to candidates who demonstrate proficiency in teaching appropriate university courses and the potential for success in research and grant work.
