Position Summary and Qualifications
The Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) for Genetics and Rehabilitation at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha is recruiting a visionary director to lead the newly restructured Integrated Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders (iCASD). The position is a full-time, tenure track or tenured position with salary and benefits commensurate with experience and academic rank.
The Director of iCASD will report directly to the Director of the Munroe-Meyer Institute. The Director of iCASD will have the following responsibilities:
- Develop a world-class ASD diagnostic and treatment center that is integrated and collaborative across disciplines and programs at MMI.
- Actively collaborate with multiple disciplines to integrate and unite ASD services at MMI.
- Establish new empirically-supported ASD-oriented services at iCASD and MMI.
- Develop joint programs with other departments at MMI as well as UN/UNMC/UNO academic units and Nebraska Medicine.
- Recruit outstanding clinical care providers and clinical researchers in the ASD arena.
- Oversee ASD-oriented services at MMI.
- Oversee training and professional advancement of iCASD faculty and staff.
- Establish a vigorous ASD clinical research program at iCASD.
- Collaborate with MMI departments, programs and services to advance our clinical mission.
- Build relationships with the community and regional/global health care organizations.
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a lifespan perspective on ASD with a background as a developmental and behavioral pediatrician, child neurologist, child and adolescent psychiatrist or psychologist. The ideal director will value the importance of relying on empirically supported treatments for ASD, characterized most prominently by intensive behavioral treatments rooted in applied behavior analysis (ABA). The Director of the new iCASD will have a 1) proven record of accomplishment in diagnostics or treatment of individuals with ASD; 2) proven record of leadership and organizational accomplishments; 3) can-do, highly collaborative attitude. The new Director is expected to be innovative and restructure the MMI iCASD diagnostic and treatment programming. The newly selected iCASD leader will have to be visionary, and will have significant resources at her or his disposal for program building and recruitment of ASD-specialized providers. Finally, the newly iCASD will be housed in a new designed, state-of-the-art, MMI facility.
