The Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position focused on autism spectrum disorder (ASD) beginning in Summer or Fall 2018. This position is part of the newly launched Supporting Transformative Autism Research (STAR) initiative, which represents a significant investment in advancing cutting-edge autism research, training, and clinical services at the University of Virginia. The postdoctoral training experience will emphasize specialized ASD assessment, intervention, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Training activities will occur primarily at the SCJC, a state-of-the-art Center providing integrated multidisciplinary clinical services for individuals of all ages. SCJC incorporates the expertise of licensed professionals with a diverse graduate training program spanning a broad range of clinical specialties. Collaboration with community partners and programs, including the Virginia Institute on Autism, will also be an essential component of the position.

The Postdoctoral Associate will participate in comprehensive interdisciplinary evaluations and evidence-based intervention for ASD and other developmental disorders. The Postdoctoral Associate will also collaborate on interdisciplinary research projects focused on intervention outcomes, improving access to care, and understanding core and comorbid symptoms in individuals with ASD. There will also be opportunities for manuscript writing, conference presentations, designing and testing new ideas for pilot studies. Other responsibilities may also include supervision of trainees (including graduate students in the Clinical and School Psychology Program) and community-based training.

An earned doctorate in Clinical or School Psychology or related degree, preferably from an APA accredited doctoral program, and completion of internship is required by the start date of the position. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in ASD assessment, intervention and/or research. Prior experience with the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) and/or Autism Diagnostic Interview - Revised (ADI-R) is also preferred. Experience may have been gained in a pre-doctoral clinical training program.
