The Research Institute (TRI) at Western Oregon University is seeking a Grant Project Coordinator if Information Management & Dissemination for the National Center on Deaf-Blindness (NCDB). The appointment is renewed through an annual Notice of Appointment, dependent upon satisfactory job performance, continuing project needs, and/or available funding. TRI is a unique organization whose mission is to inform and facilitate change in educational and human service systems.

The National Center on Deaf-Blindness is a national technical assistance and dissemination center funded by the Federal Department of Education. NCDB works to improve the quality of life for children who are deaf-blind and their families by providing support for identified priorities, for the development and delivery of quality practice, and for activities that promote collaboration and partnership. NCDB also maintains a rich repository of information that serves as the knowledge base for the field of deaf-blindness.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's in Information Management, Library and Information Science, Education, Special Education, or related field
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize information (e.g., published studies and other literature) and data
  • Ability to conceptualize and develop content for a variety of products (print and web-based)
  • Experience with and understanding of technologies used to manage and disseminate information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders (e.g., family members,  
    teachers, technical assistance providers, and researchers)
  • Strong ability to establish and maintain positive relationships

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of content-driven user engagement strategies
  • Ability to work and collaborate in virtual environments
  • Experience with information-related digital tools (i.e., databases, website content management technologies, content authoring tools, and analytics tools)
  • Understanding of the structure of national policy related to education
  • Strong facilitation and group process skills
  • Demonstrated group presentation and training skills
  • Experience in team organization, development, and maintenance
  • Knowledge in the field of deaf-blindness
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Coordinator of Information Management & Dissemination works with the Project Director, all NCDB staff, the network of nearly 50 state and multi-state deaf-blind project directors, families, consultants, web developers, and the general public to design and deliver all aspects of information management and dissemination related to technical assistance activities.

Direct and design dissemination strategies for NCDB:

  • Design and maintain a multiple-tiered strategy for the delivery of information related to national project activities. Coordinate with all staff in the identification and organization of information and products related to deaf-blindness, including databases for both the NCDB Library and the NCDB website
  • Oversee the national communication strategies to ensure messaging is appropriately structured to meet project goals and needs of audience.
  • Coordinate social networking via Facebook, NCDB eNews, the NCDB Blog and Forums
  • Collaborate on the integration and availability of all NCDB technology-related assets
  • Provide analytics and data for dissemination efforts including the NCDB website for both monthly and quarterly reports

Coordinate ongoing development and management of NCDB digital assets:

  • In collaboration with the Web Development Team, direct the development and implementation of support and integration of project's digital assets
  • Direct the development and implementation of NCDB website features
  • Facilitate, in partnership with other NCDB staff, content management planning and delivery for all initiative work in Group spaces on the site to support dissemination and TA
  • Provide user support and education related to the NCDB website
  • Curate content in State Portal, Selected Topics, Audience Pages, Events
  • Collaborate in the development of technology-related solutions for NCDB and the Deaf-Blind TA Network
  • Collaborate in the integration of Community of Practice strategies for network activities
  • Collaborate with NCDB Lead for Network Engagement in facilitation of the Community Engagement Technical Work Group
  • Serve as part of project product development efforts

Working Conditions: (if any)

  • All TRI salaried employees are considered exempt from overtime.
  • This position involves significant computer-oriented tasks
  • The position requires independence in managing workflow across multiple tasks and in managing needs for quiet or uninterrupted time.
