Metro Regional Coordinator - Mass Advocates Standing Strong, Boston, MA

Mass Advocates Standing Strong is a state-wide self-advocacy organization, located in Boston that supports people with disabilities. This exciting position entails community organizing and self-advocacy outreach within the Boston Metro region. You will support, coordinate and advise existing local self-advocacy groups and the Metro regional self-advocacy group.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- a. Visit each local self-advocacy group and update contact information for the office and
provide resources to the groups. - b. Provide facilitation and support for the Regional meeting.
- c. Provide training for local and regional group officers, advisors and supporters.
- d. Support regional leaders to take action and provide education on issues important to the
region. - e. Support the three regional representatives to the State Board to communicate information
with the State Board. - f. Build relationships with local advocacy organizations, providers and DDS on SA issues and
activities. - g. Provide training and initial support for new self-advocacy groups.
- h. Publicize M.A.S.S. and other self-advocacy activities within the Metro region.
- i. Attend monthly staff meetings and provide monthly reports on goals.
- j. Support a successful annual state-wide conference.
- k. Help plan and attend the annual Retreat. (April).
- l. Assist the Board in developing annual goals for the state.
- m. Other activities and tasks as requested by the State Coordinator.
Qualifications: Five years experience in self-advocacy, community organizing or human rights or comparable experience
- o Good oral and written communication skills
- o Experience in Microsoft OFFICE WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT
- o Vehicle to travel extensively throughout the region.
- o A willingness to learn and grow with the position and organization.
