Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunities - UC San Diego and UC Davis MIND Institute in Autism Implementation Research

Posted: Wednesday, January 11, 2017

Applications are invited for multiple postdoctoral fellowship positions under the direction of Dr. Lauren Brookman-Frazee in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego and the Child & Adolescent Services Research Center (CASRC) and Dr. Aubyn Stahmer in the Department of Psychiatry at University of California, Davis MIND Institute. Drs. Brookman-Frazee and Stahmer are PIs of a multi-site NIMH Collaborative R01 study currently pending funding. This study will test the effects of the "Translating Evidence-based Interventions for ASD: Multi-Level Implementation Strategy" (TEAMS) model on provider training and child outcomes across two evidence-based interventions - AIM HI (Brookman-Frazee and Drahota, 2010) and Classroom Pivotal Response Teaching (Stahmer et al., 2011) for autism spectrum disorder and in two public service systems (mental health, education).

The UC San Diego and UC Davis fellows will work closely together and with the investigators as key members of the project team. Their primary responsibility will be to train providers (mental health therapists or teachers) in one of the ASD interventions. Additionally, they will be involved in data collection, data analysis, authorship on manuscripts and presentations, and engagement with community partners. Fellows will receive joint mentoring from the PIs in community partnered implementation research and professional development, have access to broader training opportunities at each site, support for conference travel, and obtain supervised professional experience hours for Psychologist licensure.

Strong applicants will have experience delivering an evidenced-based intervention for school-age children with ASD and training community providers (either teachers or therapists), and demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Appointments will be made for one year, with a second year re-appointment expected based on review of the fellow's progress. Although the start date for the fellowship is flexible, but we anticipate most candidates will be available to start July 1, 2017. The current stipend for first year fellows is commensurate with the standard National Institutes of Health rate and the fellows are eligible for benefits.

Interested applicants should submit (1) a letter of interest; (2) CV; (3) reprints of three publications or other scholarly writing; and (4) three letters of recommendation to Dr. Stahmer ([email protected]) and Dr. Brookman-Frazee ([email protected]). Please specify whether you have a preference for a fellowship at the UC San Diego or UC Davis site.
