AUCD signed onto a letter to Secretary of Education John King and Attorney General Loretta Lynch expressing support for the joint guidance issued by the Departments of Education and Justice on the responsibility of schools, districts and states to protect transgender and gender non-conforming students from discrimination.

Alliance to Prevent Restraint, Aversive Intervention, and Seclusion Urges FDA to Ban Electric Shock
AUCD signed on to this letter from the Alliance to Prevent Restraint, Aversive Intervention, and Seclusion (APRAIS) responding to a Food and Drug Administration request for comments regarding the use of electric shock devices for behavioral modification. The coalition urged the FDA to ban the use of these devices.

CCD Letter on Hate Crimes Act
A sign on letter developed by AUCD in partnership with the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities to support the passage of the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009. This legislation would grant agencies the authority to investigate and prosecute federal crimes based on the victim's disability, whether actual or perceived, and would authorize funding to states to help with the prosecution of Hate Crimes.
