Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Curriculum
Using the free Moodle learning management system platform, Vanderbilt LEND has worked with experts from across the country to create a set of curriculum resources (readings, assignments, discussion prompts, case studies, additional resources, etc.) on more than 30 different Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (NDD) topics - from early identification of Autism and hearing in children to positive behavior support, Special Education Part B Services, and sexual health for individuals with disabilities. These modules, which can be updated and added to as needed, are housed on a central Moodle site and pushed out to individual programs / centers for customization.

Spring 2017 ADA International Fellowship Hosts Selected for International Inclusive Education Travel
AUCD is excited to announce that four network members have been selected to travel to Kenya, Tanzania and Brazil through the ADA International Fellowship Program, an inclusive education professional exchange initiative sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and administered by AUCD and ICI-UMass Boston. Dr. Martin Blair, Director of the Montana UCEDD, Dr. Wendy Parent-Johnson, Director of the South Dakota UCEDD, Dr. Evan Borisinkoff, Director for Research and Evaluation at the North Dakota UCEDD, and Amy Starble, Augmentative Communication Consultant at the Vermont UCEDD, will support local ADA International Fellows who studied inclusive education at their UCEDDs in April and May as they implement projects designed with their guidance earlier this year.

IU's Indiana Institute on Disability and Community Receives Funding to Advance Policy and Practice (IN UCEDD)
Indiana University's Indiana Institute on Disability and Community has been awarded a five-year, $2.7 million grant to develop and advance the transfer of research and new knowledge in the field of disability studies from the university setting to communities around Indiana, the nation and the globe.

Sandy Root-Elledge is Recognized by the Wyoming Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities
Congratulations to Sandy Root-Elledge, Executive Director of the Wyoming Institute for Disabilities. Sandy was honored with the Bright Star Award for a professional by the Wyoming Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities. The Bright Star Award is presented annually and recognizes a professional within the state who has made significant contributions to the field of disabilities.

Cekevia Degrate participated in the Leadership, Employability, and Advocacy Project (LEAP) during the summer of 2015 while she was about to be a Junior in High School. This year she has graduated from high school and is participating in the Work and College Opportunity (WACO) project at Texas A&M University. She describes how the programs helped her grow and prepare to achieve the goals she has set for her future.

AUCD Statement in Response to Violence in Charlottesville
AUCD joins with many in the disability and civil rights communities to condemn the hate and violence that were on display this weekend at the University of Virginia campus and in Charlottesville, VA. We stand in solidarity with all who have been and may be targeted by these hate groups and call on bipartisan elected officials at every level of government to condemn the racism and hate that we witnessed this weekend. We recognize the important role that we can play as leaders in higher education to help create campus environments where all can learn, all are welcomed, and no one experiences harassment, bullying, or violence because of who they are.

Bacon Receives Special Retirement Message from Senator Harkin
Robert Bacon, MA retired from Iowa's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) after 19 years as director. Bob joined the Center for Disabilities and Development at the University of Iowa in 1979, initially hired as the Coordinator of the Instructional Technology Unit back when the University of Iowa housed the University Hospital School.

New Research Explores Disability at the Household Level (MT UCEDD)

Reducing Relapse Focus of New Study at MMI (NE UCEDD/LEND)
The Munroe-Meyer Institute's Brian Greer, Ph.D., will be the site PI on a new grant written with principal investigator Timothy Shahan, Ph.D., of Utah State University, that will explore ways to reduce relapse in children who engage is severe problem behavior.

Michael Knox, PhD Retires from The Boggs Center (NJ UCEDD)
Michael Knox, PhD, deputy director and assistant professor of pediatrics, retired after 33 years with The Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
