Lifespan Respite Task Force Appropriations Alert
The Lifespan Respite Care Program provides competitive grants to state agencies working in concert with Aging and Disability Resource Centers and non-profit state respite coalitions or organizations to make quality respite available and accessible to family caregivers regardless of age or disability through the establishment of State Lifespan Respite Systems. This alert gives the history of Lifespan Respite funding asks for further support for this program.

2011 Wingspread Conference Final Report: Building a National Agenda for Supporting Families with a Member with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
A group of diverse national and state family support leaders and stakeholders met during a three-day intensive conference held on March 6-8, 2011 at the Johnson Foundation's Wingspread Conference Center in Racine, Wisconsin. The purpose of the conference was to generate recommendations for a National Agenda on Family Support for families of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).

Building a National Agenda for Supporting Families with an Individual with Developmental or Intellectual Disabilities
The report includes as summary of the 2011 Wingspread proceedings as well as concrete recommendations to address the wide range of needs of families. The authors encourage the use of this report to further discussions and action planning, energize grassroots participation, and to encourage collaboration around specific action steps at the local, state and national levels needed to support families.

FCA's Family Caregiving Year in Review Report

Recently, FCA released their "Family Caregiving 2011: Year in Review" report; a compilation of research, programs, legislation, and media coverage, that includes a section on managed long-term services and supports.

Fact Sheet 57: Respite for Adults with Mental Health Disorders
This fact sheet focuses on respite for family caregivers of individuals with mental health issues who are between the ages of 18 and 60. It is meant to assist state agencies, Lifespan Respite grantees and their collaborators, and respite providers by increasing their understanding of the unique needs of this population and their family caregivers.

National Respite Guidelines, 2011
The guidelines provide a summary of guiding principles addressing quality indicators for all respite models and services. They can act as a checklist for providers of respite to review as they address respite service delivery issues. The guidelines are intended to be used by respite provider programs, individual providers, health care providers, human services agencies (i.e., disability, health, aging, and children), state agencies, planning groups, stakeholders, and others who are interested in advancing quality respite.
